A mouse mover is a neutral tool. What matters is what you use it for.

Reasonable uses

  • Keeping a long download, upload or web-based job from being interrupted
  • Holding the screen on during a presentation or demo
  • Staying signed in to a web session you're actively using
  • Reading or reviewing material on screen without touching the keyboard

Where to be careful

Using a tool to suggest you were working when you weren't, or to record hours you didn't work, isn't what this software is for. It can breach your employer's policies, and it can put your job at risk. We don't support that use.

Check your policy

Employers differ on what's acceptable. Some monitor activity, some lock sessions by policy, and some are relaxed. Read the acceptable-use rules that apply to you before relying on any utility.

Talk about it

If idle timers are interfering with real work, such as long uploads or deep reading, raise it with your manager or IT. A shared understanding of how you work is better than any workaround.
