Your PC can lock for a handful of reasons, and they don't all have the same owner.

Settings that are yours

  • Screen off and sleep timers in Settings → System → Power & battery.
  • Screensaver "On resume, display logon screen" in the screensaver settings.
  • Require sign-in after sleep, under Accounts → Sign-in options.

Settings that are probably not

Work-managed PCs commonly enforce an inactivity lock through Group Policy or device management. If the options above are greyed out, or a banner says some settings are managed by your organization, that's the sign. Those limits are there on purpose, usually to meet security requirements.

What an extension can and can't do

A browser extension can hold the screen on while a tab is open and keep web apps seeing activity. It doesn't change the Windows lock settings, and it isn't a way around a policy your company has chosen. If a managed lock gets in your way, the right path is a conversation with IT about an exception.
